One of my rituals for this new year is to choose a word for the coming year. My word for 2011 is EXPERIMENT. You can read more about that here. To support my EXPERIMENTAL focus, I commit to post the results of a new experiment each Sunday of this year. I’ll warn you in advance, the movie rights for these Experimental Year post haven’t been sold. Some of these experiments will seem larger than others. Some will seem inconsequential – to you. They won’t be to me though. What they all represent to me is a willingness to learn, stretch and discover. As always, I welcome your comments, reactions and observations.
This first experiment is VERY basic.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve hated drinking milk. I’ve tried whole, 2%, skim, soy, rice and almond. I’ve tried. It just hasn’t worked for me. Now that my bones (and the rest of my body) are 52, I’m thinking I can use all the calcium I can get. So I tried it again.
It’s been years since I drank a glass of milk. I had some 2% in my ‘fridge, leftover from Mom’s visit.
So I chilled a glass in the freezer. Then I sucked it up (literally). And ya know what? I kinda liked it. Who knew?
Wow. All these years of hatred and disdain ~ released.
Hope all the new tricks this old dog is going to try out this year are THIS easy. Am off to pick out my official Milk Glass and store it in the freezer – I’m sure that’s what made all the difference.
Yep, I’ll be ready for one of those “Got Milk” ads soon!
