Yes, And ~ week 13

As I’ve mentioned here before, one of the richest memories of my life is how I used to get up at 5:30 in the morning with my dad. It was our time. We’d eat GrapeNuts and tell each other about the miracle(s) we’d seen the day before. I still try to like GrapeNuts and I still try to look for miracles every day.

Finding the miracles has been harder for me latley. I might notice (my word for 2015) lovely people, places, or things, but I’ve allowed circumstances, over which I feel powerless, to cloud my ability to recognize them as miracles. That’s gotta change.

Here’s how I’m going to change it. Yes/And. I completely accept the reality that YES there are many things going on the world, over which I have no control. AND while I continue to attend to what I can, I’m going to focus on the light, the good, the possible, along with the people doing the light, good, and possible.

YES, the divisions, gloom, fear, and darkness will still be around. My focus, however, will not be as glued to it, as it has been lately. I’m going to focus on the power of miracles. When I find myself tempted to dwell in the negative longer than is necessary, I’m going to seek out AND people, places, and things. AND people, places and things are the miracles Daddy and I used to share with each other daily. I’ll share some of them with you here.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed?

Not long ago, I felt absolutely, positively, and completely overwhelmed.  So I made huge shifts and changes.  I got my 4,OOO+ e.mail inbox back to zero (and not by deleting them) and I got My Life In Order.

Then last week happened – no major events,  my e.mail inbox was still at zero by the end of the day.  It was just Life in General.  So I stopped and planted growseeds.  That worked wonders.  SEE  how much those seeds have grown!

That prompted me to choose Grow as my Cheap Therapy soulbooster word of the month.  Growing is good and growing isn’t easy.  It often requires letting go of stuff that’s slowing me down or holding me back.  Since I started Cheap Therapy,  I’ve sent out a monthly e-newsletter almost every month.  This month, I didn’t.  I might next month.  I hope so.  All I know is, to grow, something’s gotta give way.  So if you’re an e-newsletter subscriber, know I’ll be back and thanks for your following and trust.

In the meantime, I get that YES, sometimes I have to admit that something’s gotta give AND  that’s a good thing.

Have you every had to let go of things. So you could pay attention to other, Pay Attention to Me Right Now Things?  What was that like for you?

  1. I appreciate being at a point in my life where there are no major demands. I love retirement, but I found it was too easy to become overcommitted with volunteer work. As a Daughter of the King, I have to remind myself frequently that “I cannot do everything, but I can do something.” That’s in our motto. So I have become deliberate about saying yes, and really deliberate about saying no when opportunities arise. Reading your posts helps me to stay focused.

  2. Susan, you Daughters of the King have taught me MUCH about living deliberately, by how you live into your transforming motto. thank YOU!
